Introduction to the Iran Pavilion Design Competition for Expo 2027

Iran will participate in Expo 2027 Belgrade within the “Playing Together” section, presenting indigenous games such as Chovgan (polo), backgammon, and Zurkhaneh sports in a contemporary manner. The Iranian Pavilion, designed with an intelligent, human-centered, and experiential approach, will reflect recent developments in urban leisure and convey the message of global peace through play—as a shared human capacity. The International Exhibitions Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran is organizing an architectural competition to design this pavilion.

Iran will participate in Expo 2027 under the theme “Playing Together,” presenting traditional games such as polo (Chovgan), backgammon (Takhteh-Nard), and Zurkhaneh sports in a contemporary way. The Iranian Pavilion should convey a message of global peace through play, adopting an intelligent, human-centered, and experiential approach.

Stages of the competition

Stages of the competition

The first stage of the competition is the call for entries and registration, during which participants submit the required documents as per the guidelines. After the registration deadline, the organizer conducts an initial review and announces the list of eligible participants. An orientation session is then held, after which participants submit their entries by the specified deadline, and the jury begins the evaluation process.

Competition Prizes

Competition Prizes

The competition prizes include cash awards for the top three winners, honorary certificates for outstanding participants, and the opportunity for selected designs to be implemented by the organizing body. Additionally, the winning entries will be showcased in a dedicated exhibition and published in the competition’s official catalog. These rewards not only recognize the artistic and technical creativity of participants but also pave the way for future collaborations on similar projects.
