Simultaneous presence of Iran and Serbia in the BIE Information and Communications Committee: A strategic opportunity ahead of Expo 2027 Belgrade
At the 177th General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), Iran and Serbia were elected as members of the BIE’s Information and Communication Committee, following a vote by member states. This election occurs at a pivotal moment, as Iran is currently preparing for its participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade—an alignment that creates a valuable opportunity for Iran to play a more active role in shaping communication strategies and public outreach for World Expos.
The simultaneous membership of Iran and Serbia in this committee will pave the way for closer bilateral cooperation in exhibition-related communications, facilitating enhanced experience-sharing, improved coordination in public outreach, and more effective participation in shaping the BIE’s communication strategies.
The BIE’s Information and Communication Committee is responsible for defining the Bureau’s communication policies and strategies and providing expert guidance to Expo organizers. Iran’s presence in this key structure offers a fresh capacity to exert greater influence in decision-making processes and to enhance the country’s international standing in the field of World Expos.
