Serbia celebrated the campaign "Reading for Humanity" with 811 hours of reading and the planting of 30 trees.
Within the framework of programs related to Expo 2027 Belgrade, a national campaign titled “Read for Humanity” was launched across Serbia, achieving more than 811 hours of collective reading in 15 cities nationwide.
This cultural initiative was designed to promote a reading culture and emphasize the value of reading in contemporary society, and it was carried out with broad participation from citizens, authors, students, librarians, and cultural activists.
As a tribute for every 27 hours of group reading, one tree will be planted in the “Future Expo Park,” symbolizing sustainability and the green legacy of this cultural movement. To date, a total of 30 new trees have been planted in commemoration of this collective effort.
This event is part of the cultural vision of Expo 2027 Belgrade, demonstrating how reading can forge a powerful link between personal growth, social awareness, and environmental protection.
The “Read for Humanity” campaign reminded the public that in today’s digital world, books still have the power to bring people together and inspire positive societal change.
