National Campaign "Reading for Humanity" in Serbia on the occasion of Expo 2027 Belgrade: A novel initiative to promote a culture of reading and environmental protection.
The Belgrade Expo 2027 World Exhibition has launched a novel initiative—the national campaign "Reading for Humanity"—from October 25 to November 2, 2025, aimed at promoting a culture of reading and environmental protection. Under this campaign, for every 27 hours of collective reading, one tree will be planted in the Expo’s Future Park.
Reading is positioned as a new form of "social currency," contributing not only to the expansion of knowledge but also benefiting nature through tree planting.
Starting October 25, the Belgrade Expo site’s reading room and libraries in ten cities across Serbia have become the central hubs of this campaign. Citizens can participate in this cultural and environmental movement by bringing their favorite books to share with others.
This campaign represents a step toward fulfilling the Expo 2027 slogan, "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All," which emphasizes the synergy of sustainability, innovation, and solidarity.
