At the World Exhibitions Day ceremony

Published: June 7, 2026

Mohammad Mehdi Tondgoyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Republic of Iran International Exhibitions Joint Stock Company, emphasized the importance of Iran's presence in the global event "Expo 2027" in Belgrade, explaining the strategic position of the exhibition industry in the country at the World Exhibition Day ceremony.

In his speech, explaining the philosophy of attending Expos, he noted that Expos are more than just a commercial event, they are a powerful tool in the field of “public and social diplomacy.” Referring to the Belgrade Expo’s slogan, “Games for Humanity; Sports and Music for All,” Tandgoyan emphasized the need for accurate recognition of this event within the country, adding: “Given the membership of the Exhibitions Joint Stock Company in the World Bureau of Expositions (BIE), which is the main trustee of Expos, defending Iran’s position in these global arenas is considered the main mission of the exhibition industry.”

The head of the executive committee of Iran's presence at the Belgrade Expo also pointed to a serious challenge in the field of branding, saying: "Unfortunately, sometimes unrealistic titles similar to the word "expo" are used for small exhibitions, which has caused confusion in understanding the true nature of expos."

Presenting statistics on the dimensions of this event, Tandgoyan pointed out the presence of 137 countries and the prediction of 4.5 million visitors to this Expo, adding: "The construction of a 22-hectare space for this event indicates the status and importance of this global event."

In the final part of his speech, referring to Iran's programs in the country's dedicated hall, he emphasized the introduction of authentic Iranian culture such as "Chogan", "Pahlevani wrestling" and "Zurkhaneh" and stated that "focusing on the subject of Pahlevanism in this game conveys the message that the goal in the game is not only winning and losing, but rather the main goal is the character of heroism, chivalry and ethics in Iranian games and the display of Iranian glory and dignity in front of the world."
